Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
And just yesterday Joe Paterno died.
Now I’ve never been a man closely associated to death but from these two people I’ve realised something.
My grandma was a huge activist in the city where my dad’s family grew up. PTA member, created the Girl Scouts group in their area, and just a lifetime of service to the community. And Joe Paterno we know what he’s done. And what he didn’t. His greatness and glory, and his faults and demons. But I can only address best as his father Angelo had addressed it: Make an impact.
And it does not rest on how many, how well you did. If but one man, you changed for the better, you’ve done well people.
I dislike recognising death, I prefer to give acknowledgement in other ways, and at other times. People I ask you don’t rest in somber over his death, but be able to stand strong and see what people like my grandmother and Joe Paterno have done in building a legacy.
